In today’s world it is becoming increasingly important to place emphasis on helping our children and young people develop self-awareness and essential life skills, in order for them to acquire coping mechanisms to live balanced and fulfilled lives. Coaches are in a unique position to utilize coaching skills and techniques in order to support children and young people to develop the tools, skills, emotional and mental resilience to navigate life and understand themselves better. The purpose of the advanced training workshop of Coaching Children and Young People is to provide participants with the foundation, skillset, and practical experience to be able to confidently coach children and young people.
The Coaching Children and Young people workshop is a 16 hour experiential training workshop delivered in four sessions of 4 hours each. It is an ideal training workshop for those looking to develop their skills to work with this niche, using a coaching approach. The course will be facilitated in English online using the zoom platform.
During the workshop participants will be introduced to the Coaching Children and Young People Model, the Coaching Process, alongside tools and techniques to support the process. All resources and materials covered in the workshop have been created and developed by Rachel Suery.
1) The Coaching Children and Young People Model– the model is grounded in the key foundations and skill set that is needed to coach children and young people and is central to the coaching relationship. Participants will learn the 3 key central elements of the model that underpin the coaching relationship and are fundamental to effectively and successfully engage and coach this niche. These 3 elements include:
2) The Coaching Process– The stages of the coaching process will be unpacked, helping participants learn and explore best practices and procedures for coaching this niche. The coaching process is designed to guide the coach through the stages of the coaching relationship from start to finish. Throughout the training, participants will work through the process and be given the opportunity to observe demonstrations alongside practising each of the following stages of the process.
By the end of the workshop participants will have the knowledge, understanding and practical application to be able to confidently coach children and young people. Opportunities will have been provided to observe and practise a variety of coaching tools and resources designed specifically for children and young people.
About Rachel:
Rachel Suery is an ICF accredited and Certified Co-Active Coach. She brings over 25 years of international experience in education as a teacher, including extensive experience in guidance counselling and educational psychology, to her work as a coach. Alongside teaching and coaching, she holds a BA in Psychology and Education, MEdPsych in Educational Psychology, International Counselling Certification, Solution Focused Therapy Training, and is a certified Mindfulness teacher. Originally from New Zealand, she currently lives in Zurich and works within her private practice in coaching.

Participants attending this programme will obtain 15 hours ICF Continuing Education units, comprising 12.25 hours in Core Competencies and 2.75 hours in Resource Development.
