Gesine Wenzel has been in Strozzi Somatics since 2008. Born and raised in Northern Germany she came to the U.S. in order to pursue a decade of study and practice, fueled by a deep commitment to social transformation.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and a psychotherapy license in California, with additional studies and training in healing trauma.
For over a decade Gesine maintained a full time private practice as a somatic coach and therapist in Oakland, focusing on empowering social justice organizers in their healing and transformation.
Her rigorous love for Strozzi Somatics brought her to teach in the U.S., Poland, Czechia, Spain, Mexico and Germany.
Committed to increasing the reach of the transformative power of Somatics, Gesine organized and co-taught the first generative somatics courses in Europe.
She maintains a regular martial arts practice and holds the rank of black belt in Traditional Japanese Jujitsu. In her favorite free time she enjoys backpacking in the High Sierras and the Pyrenees and connecting with her communities on both sides of the Atlantic.
