The desire to “Change the world” is not just a youthful dream, a cliché. Changing the world is a motto that has driven entire generations to believe in the possibility of a better future. At Green Light GO we make that ancestral desire our own declaration , adding to it our main reason for being: people.
The development of emotional intelligence through Co-Active Coaching skills allows us to row in that direction , establishing deep conversations through which we reveal to our interlocutor and to ourselves the essence of who we are.
Our unique values can be the driving force behind the big decisions in our lives, and at the same time they can be complete strangers to us. Our beliefs and the internal narratives we build around them can drive our achievements and the fulfillment of our desires , or they can do the opposite. As John Lennon said, “Life is what happens while we’re busy planning life,” and the only way to stop life from passing us by, the only way to get on the train of life, is to be present, attentive, and ready for life.
The inner journey that a good Co-Active coaching conversation provides brings us back to a place of choice and openness from where it is possible to reconnect with ourselves and generate a different impact on our colleagues or loved ones. A good coaching conversation thus turns us into a multiplying agent of well-being and awareness . We become protagonists of the hero’s journey, as defined by Joseph Campbell, travelling through the cavernous depths of being to return and share a new awareness.
Changing the world through people is therefore possible. But it is also possible to change people through the world . Human beings are relational creatures. We are not born from an egg placed in a nest, but rather within a family made up of several generations, which in turn is part of an interdependent community. The way in which we participate, integrate, coordinate or protect ourselves within that culture or relational system has a lot to do with who we are and is decisive for our well-being and efficiency .
We are hardly aware of the extent to which the culture of the different systems in which we are integrated transforms our way of being and doing things. We are not the same with our children as with our sports colleagues. We do not behave the same with our team as with our superiors if we are in a conventional professional structure and we definitely do not feel equally capable and creative in a certain team as in another. Relational systems change us, they influence us, but we also contribute powerfully to the construction of these systems and that is the key to systemic transformation.
The ORSC™ Relational Systems Coaching model states that “everything that happens in the system belongs to the system” and it is everyone’s responsibility to make things a certain way. There is no curtain. Every action, every word, both what is said and what is not said and even how it is said, has an impact on the relational system .
An impact that will last and even transcend the people who are part of it , from generation to generation, from promotion to promotion. Whether there is an element of challenge and effort, of humanity and collaboration, or whether there are toxic communication patterns or a chronic lack of trust, its impact will remain in the system, unless we do something about it.
That is the reason for the existence of ORSC Relational and Organizational Systems Coaching, to help the system take care of its members, and that is what I mean when I say that it is also possible to change people throughout the world. So, let us change people and change the world, becoming aware of all that we still have to do in the chapter of relationships.
