What is co-active coaching and what is it for?

Co-Active Coaching is a personal and professional development experience unlike other types of coaching. Based on the Co-Active model, it begins by showing the person as creative, resourceful and fully capable of finding their own answers, regardless of the challenges they face.

Co-active coaching is an energetic relationship created through open and courageous conversation between the person and the coach. The difference between a co-active coaching conversation and any other open and relationship-based conversation lies largely in the coach’s training.

The purpose of a co-active coach is to help others by asking powerful questions , listening carefully, and giving them the skills and creativity they need to lead successful lives on their own.

What is co-active coaching?

Co-active coaching is a type of coaching that focuses on the person’s goals and aspirations, rather than their problems . It is a collaborative process where the coach and the person work together to create an action plan that will lead to the desired outcome.

The coach acts as a facilitator , asking powerful questions and providing support and accountability, while the person takes charge of their own progress and growth.

Co-active coaching is based on the belief that the individual is naturally creative, resourceful and complete , and has the ability to find his or her own solutions and make his or her own decisions.

The principles of co-active coaching

  1. People are naturally creative, resourceful and well-rounded: The co-active model focuses on the person needing assistance in defining who they want to be, support in identifying negative thoughts and encouragement in taking responsibility for their goals.
  2. Dance in the moment: In this principle, the focus and attention are on the future. During the coaching sessions, we will talk about what is happening now and propose strategies to help the person move from their current state to the desired goal.
  3. Focus on the whole person: The coach looks at a person’s life from nine different areas. These include their career, family, friends, relationships, hobbies and activities, health, finances, personal growth, and physical environment.
  4. Evoke Transformation: People work with coaches because they want to experience a change in their lives that they have not been able to achieve on their own. Coaches are taught to hold space for clients, so they can reflect on themselves.

What benefits does it have for you?

    1. Enriched interpersonal relationships: They can give us a sense of belonging and connection. When we feel connected to others, we are less likely to feel lonely, sad or depressed.
    2. Greater collaboration and shared success: By working together, people and organizations can leverage strengths and expertise to achieve common goals and overcome challenges.
    3. Greater trust and loyalty at all levels: One of the most effective ways to build trust and loyalty is through open communication. This means keeping stakeholders informed about important decisions.
    4. Greater commitment: When you are fully committed to something, you are willing to put in the time, effort, and resources necessary to achieve your goals. You are focused on the end result and willing to overcome any obstacles.
    5. Greater respect for others and for oneself: It means listening to their perspectives and opinions, even if we don’t agree with them. Self-respect involves recognizing our own worth and dignity as individuals.
    6. Greater self-motivation among employees: When people feel that their work is meaningful and aligned with their values and goals, they are more likely to be motivated to succeed.
